Amex began a program to enhance their employees’ commitment to Corporate initiatives with the intention for employees to become more engaged. Employee engagement can be derived from various aspects of their work and Amex has broken these down into six components:

• Values,
• Leadership,
• Brand/Products,
• Community,
• Basic Needs, and
• Personal Growth.

Krieger + Associates created “Your ROUTE to SUCCESS” subway map to generate awareness of the Engagement initiative and encourage employees to actively engage with American Express, their customers, and each other. Our budget to produce this piece was $4,500 (excluding print costs).

This credit card sized fold-out map was given to employees at the May 14, 2008 Amex Canada Employee Forum. The content was based on Amex’s Leadership Model and its four categories: Excite, Inspire, Create, and Deliver. The fold-out map was designed to resemble a subway map, each Leadership category representing the subway lines, with the offerings that fall under each category representing subway stops along the lines. Amex served as the central station, or hub, to illustrate that Amex provides everything along the routes. One side of the fold-out displayed content in English, while the reverse side was in French. We used the Z-Card format “Credit Card” sized 8-panel product (folds out to 9 1/4" X 15 1/2") for the design outlined above. We received a highly positive response to this piece from our client.
